Western Stars Gallery & Studio — The Grand Reboot

Colorful gallery wall with mounted deer head

After a year away from daily gallery life — spent helping bring Creative District distinction to Lyons — we were so very glad to swing the doors back open May 2nd & 3rd.

And what a weekend it was.
From 11–7 both days, there was a steady, heartening flow of familiar faces and new friends moving through the five rooms — now freshly painted, thoughtfully reimagined, and brimming once again with carefully curated art, jewelry, sculpture, and a few delightful gift finds.

One of the loveliest refrains we heard all weekend:
“It feels so much lighter, brighter… more spacious.”

Music floated gently through the gallery — thanks to Alexa Wildish, Charlie Rose, and Beth Gadbaw — creating something that felt almost like an audible smudging of the space. Soft, grounding, and quietly celebratory…

We’re deeply grateful to the many hands that helped bring this reopening to life:
Brenda Moore, Melissa Oviatt, Andy Maestas, and Evy Trevino and her cleaning team worked alongside David and me for 2½ weeks to ready the space — a true team effort in every sense.

Artists of all ilk began delivering work by appointment in mid-April, and the gallery quickly filled with a vibrant mix of returning and new talent — almost entirely Colorado-based, with just one painter joining us from beyond state lines.

Special touches abounded:
Sally Glass, our building owner, surprised us with colorful planters brimming with blooms out front, alongside our two new feather fans that now welcome visitors in true Western Stars spirit.

Outdoors, sculpture arrived with a bit of theater:
John King, Parker McDonald, and Bill Foy delivered pieces that were expertly set into place by “Skidsteer Cowboy” Jared McCann, who deftly maneuvered redstone slabs into position.

Inside, bronze sculptors Diane Mason and Christine Knapp added a charming collection of foundry-cast critters, while Nancy Krause (Monument, CO) brought a lively array of jewelry — joined by stunning new works from her husband, Ezra Tucker, a world-renowned painter, and their son, Nelson Tucker, a master of scratchboard. Gary and Dorothy Gore delivered several of his fabulous paintings from Palmer Lake.
It was a weekend filled with warmth, pride, reconnection, and joy.

We’re truly grateful to be back — and to be part of this ever-evolving, creative community once again.

And a special invitation…
Come see the work of our newest — and youngest — artist to the nest, Lumin Plaster, who has just delivered her handcrafted greeting cards. Come help us kick off this young entrepreneur’s launch — she’ll be receiving 100% of the proceeds from her work.

Come by, say hello, and see what’s new.
